I currently host shows in the town (#SanDiego, #California ) and have hosted many shows with headliners such as Young Joc, WC, Dipset, Dmx, Kieth Murray, Crooked I, Luni Colione and many more.

Is there a storyline line behind your stage name?
The name Problumz in itself does not mean that I am a problem ..it simply states what a lot of people go through with in life . I’ve been through everything from being stabbed to gangbangin from homelessness to prison, everyone has problems it’s how you face them that will help define you.
When did you know you want to pursue a career in music ?
Free Styling at my boys house to “Genious of Love” beat and my boy said that was dope. After that we laid our first track, when I heard myself I thought this is a great way to get things off ya chest. I did my first song “Dance wit The devil” which was a song about struggle and choices. It made a nice buzz and I was hooked.
What artist(s) do you think influence your style of music and delivery?
I’m truly into hip-hop like the thought process of spittn hard lyrics that make you think as well as teach. An art that’s played out in music today …back in the day a rappers could teach you something without forcing it on you by a tight delivery and even tighter beat, getting the message across while keeping ya head nodding. Artist like talib kweli, common ; are knowlegable rappers that can get gutter with you without all the cynical tactics; just straight up bars ice cube, dj quick, tech nine and more. I like lyracism so artist can vary from groups like Strong Arm Steady to Duo Groups like Dead Prez

Tell us a little about your upbringing and talents
My ubringin and life story could entail a great book or documentary, I’ve seen and lived through so much so I will give you the paraphrased version.
” I was brought up in foster homes and raised in the streets. After my foster home got shot up my brother and I was asked to leave, I was 16 at the time. At age 16 you may never get into another foster home, mainly because parents want children they can watch grow. Those who may never get the chance to rejoin there Biological parent/parents. I’m finally finding out now that I have more family out here but back then I only knew a few but not well enough to move in with. Hence my journey into the street life. I got connected and started to push however I still attended high school. Once that was over I hit the streets focusing more on my music and released my first CD titled Problumattic..which very few people still have lol it’s like a lost treasure..it’s out there and the music was based on a time when I was fighting drug addiction. I was fighting a battle with Crystal Meth..and I finally won.

Man there are so Many we got “this is the season” my first compilation with Greenleaf Productions.

How would you describe your artistry?
Im intellectual, gangsta and hip/hop with a lot of flow and versatily, I am a conscious artist that likes to make music geared for everyone. It’s more to music than poppn bottles and or killing people and so on and so on. What I try to do is help listeners get a visual picture through the my words. Like they can literally see what I’m saying.
What record label if any would you want to sign to?
I would love to launch a label that becomes major rather than be signed ..the signing bonuses aren’t like they used to be. You see it all the time in the industry if sales ain’t up we moving on to the next..Owning Our own label will allow us the hands on experience (rather than being in the blind) we need in order to prosper and stay competitive in today’s world.
What’s the advantages and disadvantages of being independent ?
Advantages are more control of your artistry and you know where your money is meaning it’s easier to watch and understand your income as an indie artist.
The disadvantage is lack of knowledge when it comes to entertainment laws and practices. Being signed means lawyers fees and more fees before you know it your paying out more than your bringing in.
Thoughts From Problumz
What do feel you bring different to music expression?
Problumz music can be like a breath of fresh air. I have the look of a Gangster but Quiet and Reserved) once I hit a stage my presence and delivery is animated I express the words through movement it’s hard to get a picture of me on stage without it looking like something from the flash.
How often do you practice your craft?
I stay writing and performing but I try to freestyle a lil something daily just to keep building on vocabulary and punchlines.
Any tips you want to give any artist out there reading this post ?
Practice makes perfect..look and see what everyone else is doing and be different..in other words make yourself stand out.
Start branding yourself now as it will become easier in the future.
